First met Sam last year on a firm recommendation from a colleague whom he’d operated on before. I was immediately put at ease by Sam, despite being nervous he was so reassuring & kind. In fact the whole team…. Barry the anaesthetist, Chris the lead nurse were all exemplary & I trusted them implicitly. Dealings with Sam’s PA’s Vinnie & Daisy was always surprisingly easy. I was so impressed that when I needed my second knee replaced this year, I didn’t bother to look elsewhere. I was more than willing to travel to London to have such great care.

I recently had a total left knee replacement done by Mr Rajarathnam, What i found was from my first contact he and his team where focus on my issue to get the information needed to give me the correct diagnostic of condition and what my options are , they pull records from NHS and other health professional prior to my first appointment , along with new MRI AND XRAY so that he was able to see me and give clear feedback immediately , this really impressed me and his clear explanation and his recommendation on what he could to do to help was amazing I proceed with surgery as planned and it all went exactly how he and his team had said, The pre op care assessment and build was spot on, while in hospital pre the op i had full debriefing and post the Op a total care package was working at full speed and strength to ensure my recovery was the best it can be, after care following on from the hospital stay has been absolutely brilliant everything has been covered Now i am 4 weeks post my Op and i honestly say i made the right choice with Mr Rajaratnam and his team , Thank you

In 2020 following referral from my GP I consulted Mr Rajaratnam at the Schoen Clinic over problems with my knee. He diagnosed advanced osteoarthritis and gave me advice which I followed in preparation for a total knee replacement. At the pre-op meeting examination Sam advised that due to having followed his advice I should delay treatment as he “could not make a well man better”. Subsequently the problem with my knee recurred in 2023 and in early 2024 I had a total knee replacement performed at the Cleveland Clinic by Sam and his team. • The Cleveland facilities are new and first rate and the nursing staff and in-house physiotherapists skilled, attentive to patients’ needs, and invariably kind. • Sam was very aware that I was a terrified patient and at every meeting put me at ease, fully informing me about what was going on. • Dr Barry Phillips, the team anaesthetist, was kindness itself in his advance explanation of pain management procedure and above all in his follow-up visits. Without fail he would pop in before leaving for the day to check all was well, signing me off just before discharge. • Christine Howis, the team triage nurse visited me shortly before discharge and managed the initial 14 day recovery. She was always available to advise on the somewhat daunting array of medication which I had been issued, a great support. • Sam Gore, the team phsysiotherapist, treated me at home, gave advice on the use of the Physiolab chiller to reduce inflammation and kept a watching eye on my recovery keeping in touch with Christine. Mr Rajaratnam emphasises the importance of the team effort and I have to say that my experience proves his point. At every stage the skill of this outstanding surgeon was supported by the whole team. I am very grateful to have been treated by them.
